JV year end.

Regular season record of 10 wins, 2 losses, and a draw. Regrettably, JV doesn’t have a year end tournament, but team captains Wes Michaelis and Sean Hoey get added to the varsity roster to participate in their playoff run. Please come out to support your Falcons. Thanks for a thrilling season! Coach Ferland

Fall Sports Awards night, Nov 16, 2021 - Boys JV soccer

RECORD: 10 – 2 – 1 record. Add a pre-season scrimmage win against Concord, and that record is even better. Thanks to our AD for getting us extra games, such as 2nd games against Coe-Brown and Pembroke, as well as the game against Hopkinton. Of the 14 games, 5 were one-goal games, so I think we had a good division to play in. Regrettably no playoff or end-of-year tournament this year, but I will work to remedy that next year and going forward. ROSTER: 13 players, and a borrowed varsity keeper makes a 14-man roster… when everyone’s healthy. Pregame seemed funny when some of the other teams had 18-20 players. Note Lebanon (season closer) as an example; they seemed big on size, number of players, and even skill. They had to be scratching their heads a bit when we dismantled them in the 2nd half. Our guys were conditioned, many going the full 80 minutes each game. PARENTS/PAST COACHES: Thanks to all the coach dad/moms that helped these young guys before me. Hubbard, Hoey, Berrigan, Barrieau, Fuchs, Anderson, Smith, Dolder, Wachsmuth, Aubrey, Leonard, Leuchtenberger and those are just the names I know of in this room. Aside from coaching, it’s the rides, equipment, league fees, time commitment, family planning and organizing involved, even sandwiches, which the guys really enjoy, as do I. As the term goes, it takes a village. AWARDS: So I was granted permission to give out 2 awards tonight. I picked the Coach’s Award – which I would equate to the Falcon Award, and I also picked an MVP award. Before those 2 awards though, I would like to say that with a 14-man roster, every player can consider himself highly valuable. We couldn’t afford to be weak at any position – and we weren’t. Drew Burgess stepping up to take on a new position as goalkeeper. Utility guys like (the tireless) Adler Moura, Dillon Moreau, Cam Fuchs. A couple snipers up top with speedster Anthony Ray and Carter Weiss – who, by the last game against Leb, looked like a formidable outside midfielder, and was gaining confidence with his right foot. Outside midfielders Jakob West and James Green just kept gaining and improving their level of play and their contributions were indispensable. Toward the end of the season, my wife was at one of our home games and mentioned that the boys really seemed to be playing well together. She had been to an early season home game, and wasn’t as impressed. I would be remiss to not mention the superb defensive play from center backs captain Sean (never lose a challenge) Hoey and his cohort Austin Beaulieau, as well as our outside left back Liam Miller. One word for our back line….STINGY! On to MVP. Before, I mentioned five one goal games. Well, this player made sure we were on the winning side of most of those games. Here are some excerpts from the BHS online Game Summaries; Coe-Brown, this player scores the only goal from a precisely placed pass… MV, this player scores both goals in a tightly contested match. Coe-Brown, Part 2, in a 1-1 double overtime home thriller, this player strikes a crisp top-corner volley PA, in a 2-1 win, this player cemented Pembroke’s fate with 2 surgical strikes in the 74th and 77th minutes. PA Part 2, a 1-0 win, it was this player’s tenacity on a spilled keeper ball that was the difference in the game. The 2021 Bow JV Soccer Team’s MVP goes to Ethan Anderson. Lastly, the Coach’s Award. This player brought a great attitude and work ethic to not only the games, but also the practices, all the practices, all the time. His high soccer IQ served the team well, especially in the critical role he played in the midfield. He was overwhelmingly selected by his teammates as a captain, which speaks volumes. This player too found his way into the game highlights – not the least of which was a hat trick performance in our last game, a 4-1 victory against Lebanon, at their school. The 2021 Coach’s Award (aka Falcon Award) goes to Wes Michaelis.
