CoEd varsity wrestling places 4th at Minickiello Holiday Tournament

The Concord High wrestling program continued its success at tournaments, winning six individual titles to take first place as a team at Saturday’s 24-team Minickiello Holiday Tournament in Keene.

The Tide’s 314 points easily topped host Keene (195), Exeter (150), Bow (126.5) and Newport (120.5) in the top five.

Sam Wagner (106), Ben Widmann (145), Tyler Simpson (160), Isaac Gladey (170), Noah Giffard (195) and Alex Buteau (220) won their respective divisions for Concord.

Jack Sargent (113), Ethan Comeau (220) and Isaac Habimana (145) were runner-up finishers.

Trey Fortier (third at 120), Evan Berube (third at 132), Ian Schafer (third at 285), Tommy Sargent (fourth at 132), Hugh Gunnison (fourth at 182), Cam Cate (fifth at 126), Nick Bunch (fifth at 138) and Abbas Abdulrahman (fifth at 152) were the other top five finishers for Concord.

“The kids are wrestling hard. It was a great team win,” Tide coach Ham Munnell said.

Bow was led by Zack Anderson’s second-place finish at 126 while Colby Rousseau (113), Alex Boufford (160) and Aidan Hyslop (170) came in fourth.

Kearsarge finished 13th with 50 points behind Mason Benedict’s win at 132.

Coe-Brown’s Tucker Goodwin, the lone competitor for the Bears, won the 113 title as Coe-Brown finished 17th.

John Stark finished 18th behind seventh-place finishes from Anthony L’Hereux (138), Thomas Johnston (160) and Jeffrey Johnston (220).
