The Bow High softball team needed a boost.
After suffering a shutout loss to Goffstown on Thursday, the Falcons traded blows with Hollis Brookline on Friday and came out on top, 15-13, for their second win of the season.
“The energy of the girls played a key roll in fighting for the win,” Bow coach Emily Crompton said. “It was great to see their enthusiasm.”
Trailing by three runs in the sixth inning, the Falcons (2-2) cut it the deficit to one before Shannon Ford doubled and was brought home on a double by Erin Boldwin to tie the game, 10-10.
Bow escaped the bottom half of the inning without allowing a run. Back at the plate in the seventh, the Falcons exploded for five runs to build a cushion. Hollis Brookline (1-3) snapped back with three in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t come closer.
Lauryn Colby (3-for-5, two doubles, five RBI), Boldwin (4-for-5, double, four RBI), Ford (3-for-5 double, two RBI), Jade Dowling (2-for-4, double, two RBI) and Brooke Biehl (double, RBI) led the Falcons from the batter’s box.
Colby earned the win in the circle for the Falcons. She dealt a complete game while striking out three batters.
“This team has struggled to connect in the last few years and they have just really come out of their shells in these last few games,” Crompton said. “Their tenacity to want to win has been spectacular see as their coach.”
