GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Bow first, Concord third

Key players: Bow – Katie Jenkins (1st 200 IM, 1st 100 fly), Dillon Hicks (1st 200 free, 1st 100 breast), Sonya DeLorie (1st 100 back), Amanda Sampo (1st 100 free), Shannon Luby (2nd 500 free); Concord – Mackenzie Witham (2nd 100 back), Delia Barry (2nd 200 free), Hannah Eliason (3rd 500 free); Gilford – Laurel Gingrich (1st 50 free), Zoe Fullerton (2nd 50 free); Hopkinton – Sydney Stockwell (2nd 100 free)

Highlights/key moments: Bow finished with an impressive eight wins in this nine-team event on Friday. The Falcons beat out a much bigger school in Nashua North, which finished with eight wins. The Falcons got major points from their relay teams as Sampo, DeLorie, Hicks and Luby finished first in the 200 medley relay; Jenkins, DeLorie, Sampo and Riley Hicks were first in the 200 free relay; and Luby, Jenkins and both Hicks teamed up to take first in the 400 free relay.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Concord second, Brady third

Key players: Concord – Max Cross (1st 50-yard free, 1st 100 back), Kevin Quinn (1st 200 free, 1st 100 free), Jay Blasko (2nd 100 back, 3rd 200 IM), Ethan Case (2nd 500 free); Bishop Brady – Hanzhe Wei (1st 200 IM, 2nd 100 back), Sigi Baumer (3rd 100 breast); Bow – Joe Chen (2nd 100 breast); Laconia – Eric Phelps (1st 500 free)

Highlights/key moments: The Crimson Tide came away with seven wins in this nine-team event on Friday night. Concord’s Cross, Quinn, Blasko and Case teamed to take first in the 400 free relay and Concord newcomer Jace Castellano dropped more than three seconds from his 100 free time. Nashua North was the top team with eight wins and Bishop Brady finished the night with six wins. Brady’s Wei, Baumer, Jacob Smith and Skyler Baumer teamed to finish first in the 200 medley relay.

Coach’s quote: “I am seeing that most of the kids are moving in the right direction in terms of their training and times. We have a couple of easy areas to fix to pick up time; our relay starts remain problematic for us. I was happy with the effort that the kids put forth.” – Concord’s Bill Quinn
